UPDATE:
To the Members, Families, Friends and Guests of God’s “Exciting” Cathedral of Praise Baptist Church
:

In light of local & global precautions for the COVID-19 Coronavirus, and to ensure we are adhering to the direction of our leading health and government authorities, effective immediately, all church activities, gatherings, auxiliary ministries, including Sunday Service and Wednesday Night Bible Service, are postponed until further notice
 .

GECOP’s Staff is actively monitoring the COVID-19 Coronavirus developments as it relates to the health and well-being of our members and community.

What You Can Do:

If you are sick with COVID-19 or suspect you are infected with the virus that causes COVID-19, follow the steps below to help prevent the disease from spreading:

Know How it Spreads:

There is currently no vaccine to prevent coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

The best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed to this virus.

The virus is thought to spread mainly from person-to-person.

Between people who are in close contact with one another (within about 6 feet).

Through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes.

These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby or possibly be inhaled into the lungs.

Take steps to protect yourself:

1. Wash Your Hands

Clean your hands often

Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds especially after you have been in a public place, or after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.

If soap and water are not readily available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.

2. Cover all surfaces of your hands and rub them together until they feel dry.

Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

3. Quarantine

Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

Put distance between yourself and other people if COVID-19 is spreading in your community. This is especially important for people who are at higher risk of getting very sick.

4. Take steps to protect others

Stay home if you are sick, except to get medical care.

Learn what to do if you are sick:

1. Cover coughs and sneezes

Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze or use the inside of your elbow.

2. Throw used tissues in the trash.

Immediately wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not readily available, clean your hands with a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.

3. Mask

Wear a facemask if you are sick

If you are sick: You should wear a facemask when you are around other people (e.g., sharing a room or vehicle) and before you enter a healthcare provider’s office. If you are not able to wear a facemask (for example, because it causes trouble breathing), then you should do your best to cover your coughs and sneezes, and people who are caring for you should wear a facemask if they enter your room.

If you are NOT sick: You do not need to wear a facemask unless you are caring for someone who is sick (and they are not able to wear a facemask). Facemasks may be in short supply and they should be saved for caregivers.

4. Clean Surfaces

Clean AND disinfect frequently touched surfaces daily. This includes tables, doorknobs, light switches, countertops, handles, desks, phones, keyboards, toilets, faucets, and sinks.

If surfaces are dirty, clean them: Use detergent or soap and water prior to disinfection.

To disinfect: Most common EPA-registered household disinfectants will work. Use disinfectants appropriate for the surface.

Other Actions to Consider:

Ask your healthcare provider to call the local or state health department. Persons who are placed under active monitoring or facilitated self-monitoring should follow instructions provided by the local health department or occupational health professionals, as appropriate. If you have a medical emergency and need to call 911, notify the dispatch personnel that you have, or are being evaluated for COVID-19 Coronavirus. If possible, put on a face mask before emergency medical services arrive.

“God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”  2Timothy 1:7

We will not be fearful but will approach this challenge regarding the present COVID-19 (Corona virus) pandemic with wisdom and careful thinking. These are surely trying and changing times. However, we will triumph!

We are very concerned about the safety, health and well-being of all our members, friends and visitors, and I want to assure you that you will remain a top priority. We have taken emergency precautionary actions to avoid the spread of the virus by contracting with a private cleaning company to disinfect our facilities in the next few weeks. We will keep you informed and abreast of any further changes to our weekly worship schedule.
